There’s an elephant crossing the road ahead. We inch closer, as I become a contortionist trying to lock on with the 500mm out of the window. These super telephotos aren’t exactly nifty. There’s a trumpeting sound and out of the bush charges the bull, head up, ears forward, trunk raised; definitely in a huff, not having a good day. Wendy’s into reverse and backing up as I try to frame the stroppy bull from a bouncing vehicle at the wrong angle. There follows a full and frank discussion about what our priorities should have been; our lives or the shot. It’s clear to me; some people think photography is a matter of life or death but I take it a bit more seriously than that. Strangely, Wendy doesn’t quite see it that way. That’s the second time this has happened. We’re still alive and incredibly still married, but maybe we should get a bit better at reading elephant body language. |

| Each trip has its own particular challenges, rewards, hassles and tales from behind the lens. Over the last year I've been standing in front of audiences at photographic clubs, theatres, conferences and trade shows telling some of those stories. The show has evolved from a photographer standing by a projector into a full-on audio visual experience with high definition projection, music, video clips, practical technical backgrounds, anecdotes and of course me, telling the tales with images from around the world. We think its time to put it all together and take the Chasing the Light Road Show to the country. |

| We kicked off in Bristol in September and will be bringing the show to all five corners of the British Isles before conquering the Rest of the World! Watch this space for subsequent dates and venues. We're offering a recession-busting, uplifting, inspirational, life changing evening of photography and world travel. I think you ought to come along. |

"Amazing photographs and an expertly produced show - if you think David Noton’s photographs look incredible on a 10 x 8 print, try viewing them pin sharp on a 30-foot screen."

"Thanks for a very informative and entertaining evening on Thursday. My son and I had a great time and learned a bit too. The discussion complemented your video and book perfectly which has inspired us to set the alarm clock even earlier. Best of luck with your plans for future roadshows."

"What an absolutely brilliant evening at the Hallam University, Sheffield last Thursday. So inspiring, a show that kept everybody enthusing. The photography was sensational.
Just love the book and DVD. Please could you let me know when the book (Full Frame) and the DVD are available. Wishing you every success, you deserve it!"

"Well, the David Noton Roadshow is over. I have now just spent the last 24 hours dreaming of distant travels to tropical locations searching for the mesmerising vista and waiting for the right light. What a stunning evening it was! His images looked fantastic on my screen and in the pages of the book I purchased, and got signed by the way, but to see them projected on a large screen was something else. An awe inspiring evening that gave most people in there itchy feet, me included. I dream of visiting the places he has been, let alone returning with an awsome set if images. He gave a facinating insight to his life as a Travel & Landscape photographer backed up with some behind the scenes stories, anecdotes and some amusing un-published images. It was a pleasure to meet the man, and his team, behind the images that give me so much inspiration. Well, who knows, one day eh?? Looks like the dreaming will continue for a little while longer though!!"

"Many thanks for a brilliant evening yesterday. Excellent balance of stunning photography, insightful explanations and questions and answers all balanced off with a down to earth sense of humour. DVD is also a great thing to have to remember those crucial tips. Must get out of the "you go ahead I’ll catch you up" type of photography (have delete several files since my return to base!). I shall certainly be following your exploits in the coming months and if pennies permit I hope to join you on one of your tutorials."

"My wife and I attended your roadshow last night and we just wanted to pass on our thanks to you and your team for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I'd seen some of your work on the Yorkshire Dales workshop I attended 2008 but to see them and many others on a big screen like that was very impressive. Thanks again for a great night."

"Just like to thank you and your team for an excellent evening in sheffield last night. Your images and work are very inspiring, and have helped to fuel my passion for producing better images, unfortunately it has only made the day job seem even less interesting, but increased the urge to do more photography. Once again, thank you for a very enjoyable & inspiring evening."

"Having literally just got back from the Sheffield Road Show. I feel I must express what a great, witty, enjoyable and truly inspiring show it was! I had fully expected to be blown away by stunning landscape and travel images, which I was, but the wildlife shots were a real jaw dropper. Thanks for bringing the show this far up North this year! It came well within my (current) photographic excursion range. My only regret is that my weary brain was unable to process and retain all of the information and stories told so I will therefore have to attend again next time. Many thanks and all the best."
